The Otter Valley
starts in the Blackdown Hills to the north and meanders WSW
towards Budleigh Salterton. The whole length of the river is a
SSSI and a SAC. The last part of the river where it meets the
sea is also a nature reserve famous for its over-wintering
migratory birds.
The old
railway bridge for the Ottery St Mary to Budleigh Salterton
line. Now sadly disused (ripped up by Beeching).
