The enchanted Blackator Down,
Dartmoor on a warm and humid August day |

A rather remarkable month.
Warm, very wet with around average sunshine. The climatology belies
a month of contrasts with drought conditions prevailing until the
19th then torrential, thundery downpours replenished the parched
countryside. Extremely high DPs from the 6th to the 18th with a peak
DP of 23.8C, easily breaking the previous station record of 21.8C.
Warmest August in my record (2005), wettest since 2015 (151 mm) and
the dullest since 2018 (193 hours) |
